Description

These bibs are embroidered by women in rural Namibia. By means of embroidery they tell their story and process their experiences and problems. Once a week the women come together to evaluate each other's products, hand them in and get new material and thread. Embroidery is possible everywhere; while waiting at the well, talking to the neighbor or even in the hospital waiting room. It is more difficult when the sun goes down, which is why many women now have a small rechargeable solar light. For example, they can now work in the evening without fear of fire or sparks destroying their work. Village embroidery designs vary depending on which story the individual Penduka embroidery has to tell (village scenes, fetching water, Katutura street scenes ...).

Available in gray, white, mint, or in a set of 3, with colorful fantasy bird embroidery, with plastic lining, size approx. 26cm x 20cm (LxW). Weight 25 grams. front material 100% cotton, machine washable. For other specific color / size variants or personalized motifs, please contact us at this email address: christien@penduka.com
