Made from rough, sturdy, handmade batik cloth, pattern designed by Penduka artists from the slums of Katutura, Windhoek.Because these bags are made from one-off pieces of batik fabric, each product is unique. The “wax-look” fabric is a by-product of 7 m long cloththat lie under the fabrics to be batiked. A piece of fabric undergoes several production steps. During those steps there will also be severallayers of color on the “undercloth” creating an individual cracked look that sometimes takes days to complete. Like the underlapis saturated and has a nice look, it is replaced by a new one.
