small pencil case Village Embroidery, dark blue, with colorful embroidery

Zippered pouch for pencils, cosmetic utensils and all other handy things for on the go. This bag is made by rural women in Namibia. Through embroidery they tell their story and process their experiences and problems. The women meet once a week to assess each other's products, hand them in and get new fabric and thread. Embroidery can be done anywhere; while you wait at the well, while you talk to your neighbor or even in the hospital waiting room. It's harder when the sun goes down, so many women now have a small rechargeable solar-powered light. They can now work at night without fear of fire or sparks destroying their work.
